Foglio (cadastral map sheet)

The land registry (catasto) map of each Italian municipality is divided into sheets, called fogli, each with its own number. A sheet covers part of the municipality: in towns and cities it is usually drawn at a scale of 1:1,000 or 1:2,000, in the countryside at a smaller scale.

The sheet number appears in the visura catastale (the land registry record), in the purchase deed, in the cadastral floor plan and often in the rental contract. On its own it is not enough: to identify a parcel you need the municipality, sometimes the section, the sheet and the particella (parcel) number.

In some municipalities sheets have annexes or extensions, marked with extra letters or numbers. In the report you will find the sheet of the parcel the building stands on.
