Where life is best in Turin: liveability in its 23 neighbourhoods
The Vicinalia liveability index neighbourhood by neighbourhood: services within walking distance, public transport, green space, natural hazards, air, noise, buildings and internet, from official sources.
The neighbourhoods are the City of Turin's 23 quartieri, the same ones the council uses to count residents: from Centro and Crocetta to Mirafiori, from San Salvario to Barriera di Milano. For each one we take the liveability index of the census areas it contains and calculate the median, weighted by residents: it is the value of the area where the neighbourhood's "middle" resident lives.
The index measures the place, not the people: it does not say who lives there or how much it costs. Within the same neighbourhood areas vary, sometimes a lot, and a neighbourhood near the bottom can have excellent streets. For a specific property the address is what counts: search for it and the index of its area is free.
